People & Culture Team Paint a Brighter Future
Our People & Culture Team picked up their paintbrushes to refresh Chorley Women’s Centre
We’re passionate about spending time in the local community and making a positive impact on its residents. Find out how our People & Culture Team used their volunteer day to support the local community.

Supporting a cherished community hub
Our People & Culture Team colleagues recently used their volunteer day to support Chorley Women’s Centre, an independent organisation run by dedicated volunteers committed to helping women of all ages.
The team, including Becky Kimber, Director of People; Emma Johnson, People Partner; Jo Betts, Head of People Services; Laura Whitehead, Talent & Attraction Advisor; Elizabeth McDonald, Talent & Attraction Partner; and Hannah Poonwassie, Talent & Attraction Advisor, took on the task of clearing and painting two upstairs rooms.
Connecting as a team
As our Avove team continues to expand across the country, it is important to connect with each other as well as the local community.
Jo Betts said: “As a growing team that is spread across the country, it gave us a chance to bond and get to know our newest team member, Laura. It was great to hear about the amazing work they do to support local women; a cause closely aligned with our strategic objective to support women at work.”
A fresh look for the community hub
Emma Simpson, Centre Manager, was over the moon with the help from the team.
Emma said: “The team from Avove were brilliant and so willing to help and to crack on with what needed doing. Our lovely Women’s Centre, a hub of the community for the last 40 years, was well overdue for some love and attention, and the team really helped us to achieve that. We couldn’t have completed this without their efforts, all done with smiles on faces!”
Our Commitment to Community Giving
As a team, we strive to make a positive difference within the local communities in which we live and work.
