Wastewater Services

Overview

We offer an end-to-end service delivering complex capital investment programmes that include the refurbishment and renewal of wastewater assets and major sewer diversions.

We undertake a broad range of wastewater activities which include large-scale capital projects and planned and reactive wastewater services. We design, build and maintain the UK’s wastewater network working closely with water and wastewater companies, as well as commercial customers and property developers to deliver high quality and innovative solutions.

Our approach

We have a wealth of experience and capability in wastewater, developed by delivering increasingly complex engineering solutions for some of the UK’s largest water utility companies.

We work on some of the largest wastewater projects in Europe and our teams of experts work closely with our clients to carry out extensive investigations and detailed analysis to ensure the scope of work is strategically implemented.

We support our clients by providing Programme Management, Planning & Scheduling, Design, Asset Management, and Stakeholder Management to enhance our operational activities. This enables us to offer our clients bespoke solutions drawing on our industry knowledge and expertise to provide a broad range of wastewater capabilities.

We work collaboratively with our clients to promote and support Safety, Health, and wellbeing initiatives as well as the adoption of digital innovative technologies to closely monitor and drive improvements in both quality and efficiency.

Capabilities

Our teams have extensive technical knowledge of sewage pumping stations, and wastewater treatment works. The team can undertake a diverse range of non-infrastructure design work covering the whole spectrum of wastewater treatment. This ranges from the provision of traditional assets such as inlet works, primary tanks, secondary trickling filters, final tanks to activated sludge plants and more novel alternating double filtration systems and tertiary treatment plants.

We carry out a range of health assessments on assets such as rising mains, trunk sewers, and right through to small domestic connections to create real value for our clients. We also nurture close relationships with stakeholders, such as local authorities. This gives our clients added confidence that their projects can be completed in the shortest timescales.

Our infrastructure activities regularly require MEICA support, primarily in the design of sewerage and storm pumping stations, detention systems, and for condition surveys of existing MEICA plant and equipment. We also have a UK network of sub-consultants available to provide additional modelling support, should projects or frameworks require it. Our geographical reach gives our customers resilience, particularly when they need a large increase in skilled resource.

Wastewater services include:
  • New inlet works, primary, secondary and tertiary treatment
  • Civil Works – site infrastructure, roads, services, and Finishes. Demolition Works, access roads, hardstanding’s
  • Major upgrade of operational works
  • Upgrading primary tanks and secondary settlement tanks aeration tanks
  • Jet aeration systems
  • Inlet and connecting pipework
  • Chemical dosing systems
  • Biological Process Conversion

  • Pumping stations and associated Pipework
  • M&E Installations, MCC, Commissioning
  • Odour Control Modification Works
  • Process plant and equipment and design
  • New control systems
  • New Inlet Pumping Stations
  • Reed Beds – Tertiary Treatment
  • Final effluent outfalls
  • Controls, instrumentation, telemetry
  • Sewer Diversions & Rehabilitation

Upgrading infrastructure

We deliver all aspects of wastewater infrastructure renewal, upgrade, modification and maintenance work.

Our Projects range from capital maintenance repairs requiring no design that can be progressed to completion quickly, through to the design and construction of rural treatment plants.

We also undertake design and construction packages associated with various sewer diversions. These works involve the installation and commissioning of major strategic sewers including complex tie-ins that require close liaison with our clients to ensure successful completion.

Larger infrastructure replacement/renewal projects utilise our in-house design teams to engineer a sustainable solution and produce a complete design package. This can include ground/site investigation works and network interventions. All works are self-delivered by our design and delivery teams.
