Avove receives Bronze Award from the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme

Following Avove signing the Armed Forces Covenant in October, we are proud to have been awarded the Bronze Award in The Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS), in national recognition of our commitment to the Armed Forces.

The Defence Employer Recognition Scheme encourages employers to support people who served in the armed forces and inspire other organisations to do the same. The scheme asks organisations to pledge, demonstrate or advocate support to defence and the armed forces community, and align their values with the Armed Forces Covenant.

The Bronze Award is awarded to employers who have pledged to support the armed forces, signed the Armed Forces Covenant, promoted being armed forces-friendly and are open to employing reservists, armed forces veterans, cadet instructors and military spouses and partners.

We are delighted our work within the utility sector has been recognised with this award and are proud to pledge our support to our armed forces community.

Our commitment to the Employer Recognition Scheme mirrors our values as a business and we wholeheartedly support this important initiative. We now have our sights firmly fixed on working towards the Silver Award in 2023.

    Avove, Executive Chair, Mark Perkins

Avove recognises the value that serving personnel, reservists, veterans and their military families bring to our business and the utilities sector. The principles of the Armed Forces Covenant are recognised at Avove, by:

  • Promoting the fact that we are an armed forces-friendly organisation
  • Seeking to support the employment of veterans young and old and working with the Career Transition Partnership (CTP)
  • Seeking to support our employees who choose to be members of the Reserve forces, including accommodating their training and deployment where possible
  • Aiming to actively participate in Armed Forces Day

You can view our Employer Recognition Scheme Bronze Award certificate here or alternatively visit the Government website here.

By signing the Armed Forces Covenant, Avove joins over 2,500 businesses and organisations across the country who are supporting veteran and reserve personnel.

Further information about support services available to both serving personnel and their families, and veterans and their families, are provided at www.gov.uk.
