Avove supports Bestwood Country Park with the installation of new stone welcome sign

Avove Strelley to Redhill project team supports Bestwood Country Park rangers with sign installation

As a company, we are committed to supporting community initiatives of all kinds, enhancing the areas in which we actively work and live. For this reason, we are delighted to share that we recently teamed up with our contractors, Waitings, to install a new stone welcome sign at the entrance of much-loved Bestwood Country Park, Nottingham.

Team from Avove Strelley to Redhill project and Waitings work together at Bestwood Park to install welcome sign

Installing a sign at Bestwood Country Park that spent over ten years in storage

Our project team working with our client, Severn Trent, is currently working to enhance the water supply with our Strelley to Redhill project, which involves the installation of a 16km pipeline. Having worked closely with Bestwood Country Park’s rangers during a phase of the project, they approached us with a request to help move and install a large stone sign that had been in storage for over ten years.

Previously unable to arrange its transportation or installation due to the sheer weight and size, Avove and Waitings immediately stepped in to provide their expert assistance, coordinating its safe relocation to a space at the park’s entrance that had been previously prepared by park rangers.

Providing a warm welcome to park visitors, the efforts of both Avove and Waitings representatives were greatly appreciated by members of the public, and our Project Manager, Lee Sheldon, even made a new friend in the form of a park guest’s French Bulldog, as they stopped to thank the team for their help!

Collaborating for the community

Overseeing the stone’s installation, Project Manager at Avove, Lee Sheldon, commented:

“This project was a fantastic example of collaboration between Avove, Waitings and the Bestwood Country Park team. Once we were made aware of the difficulties the ranger team had been facing with the stone’s installation, we knew it was something that we could resolve through the provision of the necessary equipment and expertise. Everyone was thrilled with the result and the new signage now proudly welcomes all who visit the park.”

Meanwhile, Steven Graham, Site Supervisor at Waitings, added:

“This was a great opportunity to work collaboratively with Avove to move and install the welcome stone sign at the park’s entrance. It also represented an important chance to support the local community, which has been impacted by our works since January 2024.”
