Celebrating National Apprenticeship Week 2024

We are celebrating National Apprenticeship Week, which is in its 17th year, to shine a light on the positive differences that apprenticeships can make to an individual’s career, employers and the wider economy.

Bringing apprentices into a business creates real value and opportunities.

It’s inspirational to see how much our apprentices have developed as they’ve learnt new and transferable skills throughout their course.

Whilst learning their trade, our apprentices also develop additional skills such as teamwork, health and safety, problem-solving, customer service and confidence.

As an industry, we are reaching out to this generation to highlight the wide range of career opportunities that are available in the utilities sector – and National Apprenticeship Week is a fantastic opportunity to do this.

This year we are celebrating colleagues who completed their apprenticeships in the summer of 2023 and have all secured full-time roles with us working in our Vegetation Management Team.

Hear from our Apprentices

Working at Avove is amazing. Since completing my apprenticeship I have been given more responsibility working out on site and this has built my confidence. I am eager to hone my skills and look forward to further improving my knowledge and expertise.”

Avove Arborist, Jacob Days

It’s been going really well working at Avove since completing my apprenticeship. I have been working on Low Voltage shutdowns and in the future I’m hoping to get more experience across different voltage jobs. I am working towards becoming fully qualified and obtaining all my codes and tickets. I am ambitious and see a long future at Avove, hopefully becoming a charge hand.”

Avove Arborist, Issac Fisher

Completing the apprenticeship was a tough process and I was relieved to get over the line and pass the course. Thank you to our college tutor and the Avove team, as well as the other apprentices who rallied together at the end to give it one final push. The effort we all put in proved very worthwhile and for me personally I have been able to change my direction from Arborist and begin my journey in surveying. I cannot thank the team at Avove enough for accommodating the change in my career to become a surveyor. Their faith in me is a confidence booster.”

Avove Surveyor, Oliver Freeman
