Jeff Hart

Position: IT Director

I am responsible for the IT strategy for the business – looking at both applications and our IT infrastructure, which includes overseeing the Business Technology Group who are our IT team. I lead an experienced team who support the wider business, reviewing what technology we need to support them and translate that into IT delivery.

What does an IT Director do?

My main focus is to deliver our strategy, business systems/functionality, business intelligence and ensuring we have robust IT security.

My main aim within the business is to ensure that our colleagues can access the information they need at all times, and ensuring they have the IT solutions they need to be able to complete their job. During most days, I tend to have quite a few meetings with colleagues from around the business and work on project boards to track progress of our projects. I regularly meet with the operations Senior Leadership team to understand how we’re performing.

What do you like about working for Avove?

I love the variety that working here offers as we support a range of people from office based to operational/site based teams – this can keep us on our toes! I enjoy that we can make a difference to the way we work through delivery of new technology solutions.

Everyone at Avove is friendly and helpful, which is important to making work enjoyable. I like the mix of hybrid working as this allows me and the team to have in-person meetings, contact with people via Teams and the opportunity to go out on site to see the operational teams as well. It gives a good understanding of how technology can help to shape how we work together.

Do you have any advice for someone looking to work at Avove?

Always being open to learning and working hard are the most important things you need to succeed, plus plenty of enthusiasm. The specific technologies or systems involved in IT can often be learned so don’t let that put you off.

Technology is continuing to grow and advance – with new capabilities emerging every year. So it’s an expanding industry and one that will continue to need people to help develop and shape it.
